Key West Race Week

CHARSAR (Scott Fox) and GHOST (Ken Colburn) with various Maine sailors as their crews, attended Key West Race Week 2004.  Sailing conditions were excellent (assuming you like very unpredictable northerly breezes). See Nelson's commentary for more details on the event.

Block Island Race Week

GHOST (Ken Colburn ) and Don Logan (KEEMAH) represented the fleet well placing 10th and 20th respectively in a very competitive 26 boat fleet.

GENERAL

8/9/04 - Sequin was a good series for the fleet with 5 boats racing.  Black Owl led with 3 bullets (aided by as series of mishaps by GHOST whose local knowledge turned out to be a blessing and a curse).  GHOST finished second overall followed by Hair of the Dog, Keemah and Witch (Bill Helming sailing).  Next up the MS Regatta in Portland on 8/14/04.

7/19/04
- BHYC was a challenging regatta for the J/105s due to highly variable and often very light winds (perhaps too light to start the races on Sunday).  The three participating J/105s competed in PHRF Class B.  Keemah finished 1st, GHOST 5th nd Witch 8th in an 11 boat fleet.   The J/105s did take bullets in 3 out of 4 bullets in the races.  See everyone at Sequin.

7/12/04 - First results are up for PYC One Design Regatta see Results 2004- Congratulations to Ned to getting of to a great season start - next event Boothbay Leukemia Regatta.

                The fleet held an informal meeting at PYC on 7/10/04 - Ken Colburn will remain Fleet Captain, Ned Semonite will become Treasurer and Jeff Sammis will remain Measurer.  Don Logan will act at Fleet representative for GMORA.

                Summer Social event is planning at the Colburn's during on Saturday, July 31 at the Sequin Regatta.            

2/4/04 - The New Class Rules went into effect on 2/1/04 - see the Class Web Site for more information.

2/4/04 - Tentative GMORA Schedule and other Key J/105 Events for 2004 now available on this site.

2/8/04 - A Commentary on the 2003 season has been added to Results.

2/14/04 - The Red Hook Regatta in Portsmouth NH has been scheduled for August 21 and 22.  Like last year, it is on the way to the PHRF - New Englands in Marblehead

3/3/04 - Fleet 2 is proposing to host the 2007 North Americans in Marblehead - Ken has offered for Fleet 23 to co-sponsor the event. Fleet 2 appreciates the offer and welcomes Fleet 23 as joint sponsor.  A proposal is being put into the National Association later this spring. 

4/3/04 - Don Logan's email on June 6th race(s) -

Howard Coon, J/24 Race Officer, welcomes us to participate with the 24's and the Etchells on Sunday, June 6.  He has not started planning the day yet so I do not know what he will need from us collectively or individually.  This will be the first opportunity for us to have some one design racing.  Hope you can be there.

4/7/04 - Don Logan and Andy Sawyer indicate that there may be Tuesday and/or Thursday evening races in Portland - great for promoting the fleet - more details when available.
